Pulling The Plug (2014)
For the children's book PULLING THE PLUG I was commissioned to make the illustrations. Half of the illustrations in the book were painted in oil paints and a mixed media, while the other half was hand drawn and colored on the computer. There is a lot more work in a children's book than I thought. I spent hours and sketches upon sketches getting the characters the way I wanted them to. luckily the author Trista Michels gave me complete freedom on how the book looks. As challenging as it was I would love the opportunity to work on another children's book again.
Wine All Day (2009)
This piece here was painted to be a donation to The Community Table of Eau Claire for an auction during a wine tasting event. I could not make it to the event so I never met who actually bought it. From what I here it was a doctor's wife. I hope she still has it and enjoys it.
The Starry Night in Fond du Lac (2005)
This was a commission piece in 2005 for a friend who owned a pub in my hometown Fond du Lac, WI. It used to be a double door that was converted into a wall. He asked me to paint Starry Night on it, but the proportions were different on it than what the real Starry Night had. So I set out to replace Saint-Rémy-de-Provence with Fond du Lac. I looked up the archives for Fond du Lac at the library and found the perfect cityscape picture from what they figured was before 1908 because the original St. Joseph's Church was in the picture and it burned down some time in 1908. So I found myself some interesting history while researching for my work. The pub has changed owners a few times, but I believe the painting may still be there yet.
Update:
I believe this painting is now gone due to the destruction of the Retlaw theater space. R.I.P. my good friend painting. Hope they turn that wonderful space into a new beautiful parking lot, we always need more of those around here.
